Cardinals will readily come to this feeder for a snack. Since Cardinals enjoy a steady perch and to face their food when they eat, the open tray design provides them a more natural setting. American Goldfinch will flock to this feeder if you place some sunflower hearts inside, as these tiny birds cannot crack the shells of larger seeds but will feast on shelled hearts all day. While Bluebirds are not typically seed eaters, try putting out some dried mealworms, and you might be surprised. Bluebirds are primarily bug eaters and will readily eat mealworms from a feeder. The Carolina Wren is one of the cutest and most entertaining of the songbirds, and they may visit your feeder if you offer dried mealworms, sunflower hearts or peanut suet chips.
