The JCs Wildlife Poly Window-Mount Wren House is an attractive and fully functional bird house designed to attract both wrens and chickadees to your outdoor living space. This wren house is meant to be mounted on the outside of your window, but it's important to ensure that the window is free of a screen or that the existing screen is removed prior to installation.

Before mounting the wren house, it's crucial to thoroughly clean and dry the window surface. To create a long-lasting bond between the window glass and the suction cups, it's recommended to use a small amount of cooking oil, such as olive or grapeseed oil, on the back of the suction cups. However, it's important not to use too much, as this can cause the suction cups to slide around.

The 1-1/8" hole size of the wren house is perfect for wrens and chickadees, as it's small enough to deter would-be predators and keep the birds safe inside. Wrens are foraging birds that prefer insects, though they will also occasionally take a seed or piece of suet from the ground. The suction cups used in this bird house are design-engineered to hold in extreme temperatures ranging from -20°F (-29°C) to 120°F (49°C), but they should be initially applied in temperatures above 45°F (4°C).

To maintain the wren house, it's important to clean out and discard the old nest once the babies have fledged and you're certain the house is empty. The access door is located on the side with a small lever/latch near the bottom, which can be rotated to swing the door open and remove the old nest. It's crucial to keep the house cleaned out between uses, as birds will not use an old nest and will instead build a new one on top of the old one, which can lead to crowding and safety issues.
