Barn Owl House - XL Size with Poly Lumber Roof and Exercise Platform

This is the largest Barn Owl Box to date from JCs Wildlife! The JCs Wildlife X Large Barn Owl Box with Poly Lumber Roof and Exercise Platform features an elliptical entrance hole designed to provide protection from predators like raccoons and Great Horned Owls. The entrance hole placement also considers young owlets, preventing them from being pushed out by others vying to be fed first.

Underneath the entrance is an exercise platform where owlets learning to fly can land instead of falling out, and adult barn owls can guide unready young owls back inside. This 7-inch extended platform wraps around 3 sides of the box, but requires assembly upon arrival.

Our previous nesting box designs have proven highly successful in attracting and housing thousands of owls for ranchers, farmers, and vineyards seeking natural pest control. This new, larger model accommodates even the largest broods with its expanded overall dimensions.

At nearly 65 lbs, we recommend having a partner to handle this box. A bag of pine shavings is included to make the box more appealing, but cedar should be avoided as its dust and fumes can irritate young owls. The wood has been treated with linseed oil and mineral spirits for preservation.

For mounting, a 6" x 6" x 16' post secured 4' deep in concrete is recommended to support the box's weight. A base plate for attaching the box to the post is included, but the post and concrete must be purchased separately.

The box dimensions with the assembled exercise platform are 31.5" H x 27" D x 35.5" W, weighing around 55 lbs. Easy access for cleaning is provided by a dedicated access door, allowing you to monitor young owlets via a wildlife camera without removing the entire box.
