Premium Poly Barn Owl House - Extra Large with Exercise Platform

This JCs Wildlife X Large Deluxe Poly Barn Owl Box with Exercise Platform is the largest barn owl box offered by the company to date. The entrance hole is elliptical in shape to provide protection from predators such as raccoons and Great Horned Owls. The placement of the entrance hole is designed with the young owlets in mind, preventing them from being pushed out by others as they all vie to be fed first.

Underneath the entrance hole is an added exercise platform, where owlets learning to fly can land on the perch instead of falling out of the box. This platform also allows adult barn owls to guide the owlets back in if they are not yet ready to leave the nest. Extending 7 inches out from the nesting box and wrapping around all sides, the exercise platform comes as separate pieces that require assembly.

The previous nesting box design from JCs Wildlife has proven highly successful in attracting and providing homes for thousands of owls. Ranchers, farmers, and vineyards have found these boxes to be useful for their natural pest control. This new, larger model offers increased overall dimensions to better accommodate larger broods.

Due to the weight of the box, which is close to 75 lbs, it is recommended to have a partner when handling or moving it. The box is made of recycled poly lumber, ensuring it will never crack, split, or fade due to weathering, and will last for years.

Included with the barn owl box are a bag of pine shavings for nesting material, as well as a base plate for securing the box to a 6" x 6" post that is 16 feet high. The post will need to be set in a hole at least 4 feet deep, secured with concrete to support the weight of the box. The post and concrete are not included with the purchase.

The box dimensions with the exercise platform attached are 31" H x 33" D x 34.25" W. The entrance hole measures 5.5" W x 4.5" H and is situated 24" above the floor of the box.

This barn owl box is designed to attract and provide a safe, comfortable home for barn owls. It features a clean-out door for easy access and maintenance, as well as the ability to install a wildlife camera to observe the owlets during their growth process. By placing the box in an open field or meadow with a plentiful supply of small prey, such as voles, mice, and small birds, you can help support the local barn owl population and their natural pest control abilities.
